Coming in second, the best movie Tony Scott and Denzel Washington never made makes a mere $2 million dollars less than #1! Close enough for Valentines Day, I guess. What does this say about our movie demographics? The hopeless romantics and the fanboys rule the day for the most part, dumping off the kids at #3's highest box office entry, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Finally! A sequel that wasn't good enough for Brendan Fraser. This one wasn't good enough for Rachel Weisz. But the biggest sign of the times is that one of the biggest movies of 1999 comes in fourth: Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
