Auteur Watch - James H. Brown

Ooh!  It's been a while since I got to do this, ask this question.  So... what do this guy, this guy and this guy have in common?  That's right!  They're ALL THE SAME GUY.  Speaking of which... yup, still the Highlander.  But really, when you come across a character like this James H. Brown... I mean, he's the director so nice, he just needs to be acknowledged by something like the IMDb thrice.  And is usually the case with these guys, they had to claw their way up to the director's chair from the vantage point of a secondary career.  And I mean really, aren't all careers secondary to the auteur's career?  Whether you're the director of photography, the casting director, or the guy who cleans up after the elephant at the zoo or the circus... you know, a few hours after meal time?  The Director of Post-Elephant Sanitation?  In the case of this James H. Brown, he had a very, very illustrious career in television, practically the Golden Age of Television, as an assistant director, with the exception of a few silver screen releases: The Birds and the classic Marnie.  And there was just something about working with ol' Hitch, that one couldn't help but tell themselves, well hell.  If that fat Limey can direct, why not me?  In fact, why not me right now?  Okay, his episodes of "Tales of Wells Fargo" were a little before all that, I'll give you that.
