ANYWAY, back to our latest Auteur, a feller named James St. John Cox. In addition to being a director, he also does film acting. He played "Altar Boy" in Six Days Straight... but then when you find out the plot of the film is about a father and a son who plan a robbery, you go phew! Browsing history's safe again. Naturally, the one film wasn't enough, so James went on to directing. But what to call this first feature film? I mean, I've heard of a talk show host named Dave, and a Van Halen front man named Dave, but James St. John Cox just had to go and direct a film named Dave... oops, that's not it.
Maybe it's THIS film named Dave... nope, that's the classic political comedy from 1993 starring Kevin Kline, and also Kevin Kline! All national treasures. Maybe it's this OTHER film called Dave... no? THIS film named Dave? THAT film named Dave? THE OTHER film named Dave? THIS film named Dave? THIS film named Dave? THIS film named Dave? THIS film named Dave? THIS film named Dave? THIS film named Dave? THIS film named Dave? This OTHER film named Dave? Maybe this OTHER film named Dave from 2017? Maybe this OTHER film named Dave from 2017? I think it's the last one. THIS film named Dave perhaps? Maybe I'm just barking up the wrong tree. Maybe it's a TV show named "Dave" perhaps? Maybe it's a SECOND TV show named "Dave"? Maybe it's this OTHER TV show named "Dave"? Is that the one they show on FX? I used to see ads for it in-between "Simpsons" reruns. I must be getting too far afield. Maybe it was a film about the Daughters of Dave? Busy guy! Maybe it was just "An Appeal On Behalf of Dave"? Maybe this Dave was a bank-owner, and it was a film about the... I mean, a TV series about the Bank of Dave? Maybe it was a prequel to Daughters of Dave, and it was about The Break-Up of Dave? Persistent guy! Some guys were just born to be fathers; others just really really want to get into management. Of course, I've been disappointed before, and I'm starting to think it might just be The Not So Incredible Life of Dave. We all just need to get our groove back from time to time, not just Stella. Then of course, there's The Passion of Dave. Personally, I would've gone with The Passion of The Dave, but that's just me. I like to go the ironic route whenever I can.
