Auteur Watch - Rommel Hall

Here's an interesting bio for ya!  Rommel Hall's career seems to have begun in 2011, and it's been completely uphill ever since.  He or she's clearly got the magic touch... I think it's a he because they play a character named Richard in a true crime "documentary."  Well, the line between documentary and docudrama seems to be getting blurrier and blurrier these days.  Take "The Rise and Fall of the Brown Buffalo," for example.  So far, it's the only example I know of where actors portray real-life people doing fake interviews.  The guy who plays Hunter S. Thompson is clearly not enough of a train wreck for the job.  But don't worry, because for each fake interview there's a teeny tiny disclaimer, saying something like "Recreation" or "Dramatization."  The bar continues to lower for people who hate documentaries.
But Rommel once again proves what Joe Dante said, that there's, for all intents and purposes, no difference between TV and the silver screen these days... except that the big studios will still usually pony up for a special FX extravaganza like the Avengers sequels and what not.  That Vistaglide(TM)(C)(R) won't align itself, after all!  Still, TV's not a bad place to be.  When you've got a hot series like "Keeping Up With the Joneses," you're doing okay.  I have no idea what channel it's on or anything, but whatever.  They're doing something right.  It's doing so well, in fact, that they're following the "South Park" business model, and did a movie version two years into the TV show's run.  Again, no idea who has it for viewing... Redbox?  Netflix?  ...no, Netflix has an Australian reality show of the same name.  Then, of course, there's that 2016 movie with Zach Gal-a... Galifink... Gal Gadot and a few others.  And yet, is no one willing to stand up and yell "cultural misappropriation"?  Is that just for 50s and 60s music now?  Do we finally have the tools to bring the Beatles down a peg or two?  Spoiler alert: probably not.
