Auteur Watch - Jerry Jackson

If you want to be in showbiz these days, it of course helps to be an heiress like Julia Louis-Dreyfus or Kyra Sedgwick, or have a side-business like Jeremy Renner flipping houses, or whatever Jeff Bezos does in his spare time to make a living.  Take the case of Jerry Jackson, for example.  He does it all anyway already: producer, writer, editor, director, occasional actor... but operating the camera seems to be his first love.  At least, that's what he's got the most credits for.  I'm pretty sure he was the head cameraman on all his directorial efforts.  Hey, go with what works, right?  Works for Peter Hyams, works for Steven Soderbergh, so too does it work for Jerry Jackson.  Of course, he does have a good sense of what's a great title.  I mean, Cry-Baby, Black Rain, The Player... all classics.  Classics of Sherry Lansing Hollywood.  Strange!  I would've thought the adaptation of Anne Rice's Crackula Goes to Hollywood would be in his IMDb Top 4.  Clearly, my fingers are way off of the pop culture pulse this week.
