Oh, right. Shirking my duties again. Well, the only new debuts this week are a horror film called The Purge, and a horror film about getting older called The Internship. I guess Larry Page and Sergey Brin aren't that rich after all; I thought for sure they'd spend a billion apiece on tickets! Wouldn't that be something? To hear that on the news? "The Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson comedy The Internship made two billion and change this weekend..." Nope, no dice.
Meanwhile, it's ennui, ennui, ennui at the box office. After Earth is after the #10 spot, and should reach that in a couple weeks. Star Trek Into Darkness crossed the $200 million mark, ho hum. No wonder there's all these news stories about the new Star Wars movie! If Star Trek were doing better, they'd be talking about it. But I think this J. J. Abrams youngster's going to make out all right, and in the end, isn't that what really matters?
