Auteur Watch - Jeffrey W. Byrd

My software's been tweaked a little bit!  I don't know what to do about those socket errors, though..  SocketTimeoutException or some such nonsense.  Even computer programs hate the slow speed of the intertubes.  Anyway, not everyone wants to be the next Tyler Perry.  The next Joel Zwick is good enough for some, like our next auteur, Jeffrey Byrd.  Of course, seven years is a long time between projects, dude.  You gotta crank that s... stuff out, dude.  One film every two years at least.  Tyler does two a year!!!  And three new TV shows.  Sure, it's TBS, but close enough.  So while I'm feverishly trying to find the connection between my man here and Spielberg, apparently there's a connection to Spike Lee!  The black Spielberg!  So I guess we could say...

Byrd worked as an intern on Mo' Better Blues directed by...
Spike Lee, who directed Malcolm X which featured...
Karen Allen...

...and the trail goes cold after that.  I know she was in Animal House.  Spielberg directed that, right?  Anyway, we'll sort this all out soon, don't you worry.

Okay, here's what my software spit out...

Steven Spielberg
A Decade of Difference: A Concert Celebrating 10 Years of the William J. Clinton Foundation
Usher Raymond
Soul Food
Jeffrey W. Byrd

So, Byrd directed an episode of the acclaimed series, Soul Food, in which Usher Raymond played a part... as opposed to the 1997 movie, Soul Food, in which Usher just did part of the soundtrack.  And Usher was at that concert thingie which that Spielberg fella apparently was at.  Clearly movies alone just aren't doing it for him anymore.  So there you go.  You get to Usher, you get to Spielberg.  Fly like a bird out of hell, Byrd!
